Venue and Accommodations

IGC9 sessions will be held in the Geological Museum, Maxwell-Dworkin building, and Pierce Hall on the Harvard University campus. Get local directions here. Here is a map of the meeting venues. The Geological Museum is the large red-brick building just across Oxford St. from Pierce Hall. Enter through the right door and Geological Museum 100 will be immediately to your right. There is a wide range of lodging options in the Cambridge area but they tend to fill up quickly so you should book well in advance. We don't reserve hotel blocks because we have found that attendees tend to prefer to make their own lodging plans and get better deals that way. Good local hotels within easy walking distance from Harvard are the Porter Square Hotel (probably the best deal), the Irving House (generally a good deal), and the Sheraton Commander Hotel (closest but pricey). There are many other hotels a little further away but still within easy commute (search for them on hotels.com, bookings.com, or similar sites). Airbnbs can also be a good deal. The Cambridge/Boston/Somerville area is very compact and easy to get around on foot, bikeshare, and public transportation. Don't rent a car - it doesn't make sense in Boston.

Dress for the meeting is casual.
